6206 Deep Groove Ball Bearing 30x62x16mm

The 6206 bearing is the first 30mm-bore bearing in the 6200 heavy series — the size where deep groove ball bearings enter medium-duty industrial service. At 62mm OD and 16mm width, it carries 19.5 kN dynamic load with nine 9.525mm balls, spanning IEC frame 112 through 132 motors from 5.5 kW to 7.5 kW. The step up from the 6205 bearing where the drive-end bearing must handle both increased shaft torque and proportionally larger overhung loads from belt drives and coupling reactions. GCr15 bearing steel, ABEC-1 or ABEC-3 precision, and three sealing configurations.

Key Specifications

Shielding and Lubrication

The 6206 bearing ships in three configurations matched to operating environment. Open bearings suit oil-bath, circulating-oil, or oil-mist lubrication at the full 11,000 RPM speed rating — the standard configuration for industrial gearbox and machine tool spindle applications where the lubrication system provides contamination control. ZZ metal shields use non-contact SPCC steel covers pressed into the outer ring, forming a labyrinth gap that blocks workshop debris, belt dust, and fiber contamination without adding friction; speed remains 11,000 RPM.

2RS rubber seals employ nitrile (NBR) contact lips riding on the inner ring shoulder. The lip seals against water spray, cement dust, agricultural soil, and chemical washdown. Seal friction reduces the speed rating to 7,000 RPM with a seal lip temperature rise of 10u00b0C to 15u00b0C at rated speed. At the 16mm width of the 6206 bearing, the seal groove accommodates a thicker NBR lip cross-section than the 6205 bearing — providing a longer wear path and proportionally larger grease reservoir for extended service intervals in sealed-for-life applications.

Factory fill is polyurea-thickened mineral grease at 25 to 30 percent of free internal volume. The 16mm width and 62mm OD provide approximately 7.8 cmu00b3 of grease capacity — roughly 50 percent more than the 6205 bearing, enabling multi-year operation without relubrication in moderate-duty sealed applications. For food-processing washdown, 440C stainless steel rings and FKM seals are available. For mining and aggregate-handling conveyors where abrasive dust penetration is the primary failure mode, triple-lip FKM contact seals with an external flinger can be specified.

Performance

The 6206 bearing delivers 19.5 kN dynamic load and 11.3 kN static load. Nine balls of 9.525mm diameter run in deep-groove raceways precision-ground to ABEC-1 or ABEC-3 tolerance. At 30mm bore, this is the first size in the 6200 series where the bearing alone can serve as the drive-end support for machines with significant overhung loads — belt-driven fans, direct-coupled centrifugal pumps, and industrial gearbox input shafts. The 19.5 kN rating accommodates belt-tension side loads up to approximately 4.9 kN at a 1.2 service factor.

Against the 6006 bearing — same 30mm bore — the 6206 bearing adds 7mm OD (62mm vs 55mm) and 3mm width (16mm vs 13mm) for a 48 percent increase in dynamic load capacity (19.5 vs 13.2 kN). In a 7.5 kW belt-driven industrial fan at 1,450 RPM with 3.8 kN radial load at the drive end, the 6206 bearing delivers approximately 22,000 hours L10 versus 10,000 hours for the 6006 bearing — more than doubling the bearing service interval and eliminating the mid-life replacement in a 5-year equipment duty cycle.

Compared to the 6205 bearing (25x52x15mm, 14.0 kN), the 6206 bearing steps up to 30mm bore with a 39 percent load gain (19.5 vs 14.0 kN). A 30mm shaft carries 73 percent more torque capacity than a 25mm shaft of the same material — the structural reason manufacturers switch from the 6205 bearing to the 6206 bearing at the 5.5 kW to 7.5 kW motor power band. Against the 6306 bearing (30x72x19mm, 28.1 kN), the 6206 bearing saves 10mm OD and 3mm width while retaining 69 percent of the load capacity — the lighter, more compact option when housing space and weight constraints prevent stepping to the 63xx series.

OEM and Customization

Yuanhe supplies the 6206 bearing with full customization for volume orders. Standard internal clearance is CN. C3 clearance is specified for electric motor drive-end and gearbox applications where the inner ring operates 10u00b0C to 20u00b0C hotter than the outer ring during continuous duty. C2 clearance suits machine tool spindle and precision rotary axis applications. C4 and C5 clearances are available for heavy interference fits and applications with high thermal gradients, such as industrial oven fan shafts.

Grease options range from standard polyurea (general purpose, -20u00b0C to 120u00b0C) to low-noise polyurea for motor applications (tested below 30 dB(A) on 6206-sized bearings), fluorinated high-temperature grease (intermittent to 150u00b0C), and NSF H1 food-grade grease. Stainless steel 440C rings and balls are available for pump, marine, and chemical processing service; 440C dynamic load rating decreases to approximately 15.6 kN. Cage materials: glass-fiber-reinforced PA66 (standard), machined brass for continuous duty above 120u00b0C or shock-loaded applications, and pressed steel for cost-optimized volume production. Electric motor-grade low-noise sorting (Z2/V2 standard; Z3/V3 to specification) is available. For conveyor-head-pulley applications, a solid-grease fill (NLGI grade 2) with EP additives can be specified to resist washout in wet mining environments. Standard lead time is 7 to 15 days with batch dimensional and noise-test reports. Submit your specification or drawing for a quote.

Applications

Electric motors from 5.5 kW to 7.5 kW (IEC frame sizes 112-132), industrial fan and blower drive-end and non-drive-end bearings, centrifugal and split-case pump impeller and motor shafts, air compressor crank and motor shaft bearings, gearbox input and intermediate shaft bearings, light-to-medium conveyor head and tail pulleys, automotive alternator and water pump bearings in heavy-duty truck applications, machine tool spindle and feed-axis support bearings, agricultural PTO shaft and implement bearings, textile spinning frame and loom drive shaft bearings, material handling roller and idler bearings, and HVAC air-handling unit fan shaft bearings. Any application requiring a 30mm shaft within a 62mm housing bore.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the 6206 bearing and the 6006 bearing? +
Both fit a 30mm shaft. The 6206 bearing measures 62mm OD x 16mm width with 19.5 kN dynamic load. The 6006 bearing measures 55mm OD x 13mm width with 13.2 kN dynamic load — 48 percent less capacity. The 6206 bearing requires 7mm more housing diameter and 3mm more width. In a 7.5 kW belt-driven fan at rated load, the 6206 bearing delivers more than double the L10 life. Choose the 6006 bearing when housing diameter is the binding constraint. Choose the 6206 bearing when belt-tension side loads or fatigue life determine the motor service interval.
How does the 6206 bearing compare to the 6205 bearing? +
The 6206 bearing steps up to 30mm bore (from 25mm), 62mm OD (from 52mm), and 16mm width (from 15mm). Dynamic load increases from 14.0 kN to 19.5 kN — a 39 percent gain. Ball diameter increases from 7.938mm to 9.525mm. A 30mm shaft carries 73 percent more torque than a 25mm shaft of the same material. Motor and pump manufacturers typically switch from the 6205 bearing to the 6206 bearing at the 5.5 kW to 7.5 kW power band because the larger shaft diameter is needed for torque transmission and the larger bearing is needed for the overhung load that accompanies the larger shaft.
Can the 6206 bearing be used as the drive-end bearing in a belt-driven industrial fan? +
Yes. The 19.5 kN dynamic rating accommodates belt-tension side loads up to approximately 4.9 kN at the bearing centerline with a 1.2 service factor for moderate shock and 8-hour daily duty. For V-belt drives where static tension plus transmitted load can reach 3 times the nominal belt pull, calculate the resultant radial force vector at the bearing position. If the resultant exceeds 9.75 kN (50 percent of Cr), specify C3 clearance to accommodate thermal expansion from belt friction or consider stepping up to the 6306 bearing. For direct-coupled applications without belt side loads, the 6206 bearing is rated for full motor torque across the entire 5.5 kW to 7.5 kW range without derating.
What is the relubrication interval for a 6206 2RS bearing in a conveyor head pulley? +
The 6206 2RS bearing is pre-greased for life and not designed for field relubrication — the 2RS contact seals cannot accept grease without damaging the seal lip. For conveyor head pulleys where periodic greasing is required, specify the ZZ shield configuration and install the bearing in a plummer block housing with a grease nipple. Under moderate load (50 percent of Cr) at 300 RPM in a clean indoor environment, the factory grease fill provides approximately 15,000 to 20,000 operating hours. For outdoor or dusty conveyor service, the ZZ-plus-external-seal configuration with quarterly relubrication extends bearing life beyond 40,000 hours. Contact Yuanhe with your conveyor duty cycle for a relubrication schedule calculation.
