6205 Deep Groove Ball Bearing 25x52x15mm

The 6205 bearing is the first 25mm-bore bearing in the 6200 heavy series — the size where deep groove ball bearings transition from fractional-horsepower to industrial drive-end service. At 52mm OD and 15mm width, it carries 14.0 kN dynamic load, spanning IEC frame 100 through 112 motors from 3 kW to 5.5 kW. GCr15 bearing steel, ABEC-1 or ABEC-3 precision, and three sealing configurations make it the standard drive-end bearing for medium-duty pumps, fans, conveyors, and compressors.

Key Specifications

Shielding and Lubrication

The 6205 bearing ships in three configurations. Open bearings suit oil-bath or circulating-oil lubrication at the full 13,000 RPM speed rating — common in gearbox and compressor applications where the lubrication system provides contamination control. ZZ metal shields use non-contact SPCC steel covers pressed into the outer ring, blocking coarse debris and fiber dust without adding friction; speed remains 13,000 RPM.

2RS rubber seals employ nitrile (NBR) contact lips riding on the inner ring shoulder. The lip seals against water spray, cement dust, agricultural soil, and chemical mist. Seal friction reduces the speed rating to 8,500 RPM with a temperature rise of 10°C to 15°C at rated speed. At the 15mm width, the 6205 bearing has a deeper seal groove and the largest grease reservoir among the 6200-6205 range. This makes the 2RS variant particularly durable in wet and dusty environments where relubrication access is unavailable.

Factory fill is polyurea-thickened mineral grease at 25 to 30 percent of free internal volume. The 15mm width and 52mm OD provide approximately 5.2 cm³ of grease capacity — extending relubrication intervals beyond what the 6204 bearing can support in continuous duty. For food-processing washdown, 440C stainless steel rings and FKM seals are available. For high-humidity tropical environments, a thickened zinc-oxide grease fill extends corrosion protection to exposed ring surfaces.

Performance

The 6205 bearing delivers 14.0 kN dynamic load and 7.85 kN static load. Nine 7.938mm balls run in deep-groove raceways precision-ground to ABEC-1 or ABEC-3 tolerance. At 25mm bore, this is the size where electric motor shafts begin carrying meaningful overhung loads from belt drives, coupling misalignment, and impeller imbalance. The 14.0 kN rating accommodates belt-tension side loads up to approximately 3.5 kN at a 1.2 service factor — covering the drive-end bearing for pumps and fans up to 5.5 kW.

Against the 6005 bearing — same 25mm bore — the 6205 bearing adds 5mm OD (52mm vs 47mm) and 3mm width (15mm vs 12mm) for a 38 percent increase in dynamic load capacity (14.0 vs 10.1 kN). In a 4 kW centrifugal pump at 2,900 RPM with 2.5 kN radial load at the drive end, the 6205 bearing delivers approximately 19,000 hours L10 versus 9,500 hours for the 6005 bearing — halving the number of bearing replacements over the pump service life.

Compared to the 6204 bearing (20x47x14mm, 12.8 kN), the 6205 bearing steps up to 25mm bore with a 9 percent load gain (14.0 vs 12.8 kN). The primary advantage is not the load number — it is the shaft diameter. A 25mm shaft carries 95 percent more torque capacity than a 20mm shaft of the same material, which is why motor manufacturers switch to the 6205 bearing at the 3 kW threshold. Against the 6305 bearing (25x62x17mm, 22.5 kN), the 6205 bearing saves 10mm OD and 2mm width while retaining 62 percent of the load capacity — the lighter option when housing space and weight matter more than ultimate load rating.

OEM and Customization

Yuanhe supplies the 6205 bearing with full customization for volume orders. Standard internal clearance is CN. C3 clearance is specified for electric motor drive-end applications where the inner ring operates 10°C to 20°C hotter than the outer ring during continuous duty — the thermal gradient reduces running clearance, and C3 prevents preload-induced torque rise and life reduction. C2 clearance suits precision grinding spindles and measurement rotary axes. C4 is available for heavy interference fits exceeding ISO standard tolerance bands.

Grease options range from standard polyurea (general purpose, -20°C to 120°C) to low-noise polyurea for motor applications (tested below 30 dB(A) on 6205-sized bearings), fluorinated high-temperature grease (intermittent to 150°C), and NSF H1 food-grade grease. Stainless steel 440C rings and balls are available for pump, marine, and washdown service; 440C dynamic load rating decreases to approximately 11.2 kN. Cage materials: glass-fiber-reinforced PA66 (standard), machined brass for continuous duty above 120°C or shock-loaded service, and pressed steel for cost-optimized high-volume production. Electric motor-grade low-noise sorting (Z2/V2 standard; Z3/V3 to specification) is available. Standard lead time is 7 to 15 days with batch dimensional and noise-test reports. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the 6205 bearing and the 6005 bearing? +
Both fit a 25mm shaft. The 6205 bearing measures 52mm OD x 15mm width with 14.0 kN dynamic load. The 6005 bearing measures 47mm OD x 12mm width with 10.1 kN dynamic load — 38 percent less capacity. The 6205 bearing requires 5mm more housing diameter and 3mm more width. In a 4 kW pump at rated load, the 6205 bearing delivers approximately double the L10 life of the 6005 bearing. Choose the 6005 bearing when the housing bore is limited to 47mm. Choose the 6205 bearing for drive-end motor positions where belt-tension side loads and fatigue life govern the specification.
How does the 6205 bearing compare to the 6204 bearing? +
The 6205 bearing steps up to 25mm bore (from 20mm), 52mm OD (from 47mm), and 15mm width (from 14mm). Dynamic load increases from 12.8 kN to 14.0 kN — a 9 percent gain. The key advantage is the shaft diameter: a 25mm shaft carries 95 percent more torque than a 20mm shaft of the same material. Motor manufacturers typically switch from the 6204 bearing to the 6205 bearing at the 3 kW power threshold because the larger shaft is needed for torque transmission, not because the bearing load rating is insufficient.
What is the maximum allowable belt-tension side load for a 6205 bearing in a fan application? +
The 14.0 kN dynamic rating accommodates belt-tension side loads up to approximately 3.5 kN at the bearing centerline with a 1.2 service factor for moderate shock and 8-hour daily duty. For V-belt drives, calculate the resultant radial force at the bearing — belt preload plus transmitted load vector. If the resultant exceeds 7.0 kN (50 percent of Cr), consider stepping up to the 6305 bearing or specifying C3 clearance to accommodate the additional thermal load from belt friction.
Can the 6205 bearing run at 3,600 RPM continuously with 2RS seals? +
Yes. The 6205 2RS bearing is rated to 8,500 RPM in grease. At 3,600 RPM — the standard speed for 2-pole motors on 60 Hz power — the seal lip operates well within its thermal envelope. Seal lip temperature rise is approximately 5°C to 8°C above ambient at 3,600 RPM, and seal wear rates are negligible. For 3,600 RPM continuous-duty pump and fan motors in outdoor or dusty environments, the 2RS seal is the standard choice. No external labyrinth seal is needed. At 7,200 RPM and above, switch to ZZ shields with external housing sealing.
