Selection of Bearing Models for Angle Grinder GearBoxes

In the last blog, we talked about the selection of bearings on the rotor of the angle grinder. In this blog, let’s talk about the selection of bearing models for angle grinder gearboxes.  We take the current Bosch power tool 6-100 angle grinder as an example.

There are two types of 6-100 angle grinding gearbox bearings, one is 606 ZZ and the other is 6201 2RS. Let’s talk about what matters need to be paid attention to in the selection of these two bearings.

Bearing limit speed

 The rotating speed of the bearing 606 ZZ used part is 11000r/min. The limit speed of 606 ZZ bearings produced by Yuanhe Transmission can reach 350000r/min. The 6-100 type angle grinding gear shaft and the 606 ZZ bearing of the gear shaft can fully meet the requirements of the complete machine customer for the limit speed of the bearing.

The working speed of the gear shaft used by the 6201 2RS bearing is 11000r/min. The limit speed of the 6201 2RS bearing produced by Yuanhe Transmission can reach 25000r/min. 6-100 type angle grinding gear shaft and gear shaft 6201 2RS bearing can fully meet the customer’s requirements for the limit speed of the bearing.

Selection of bearing grease

The rotating speed of the working part of the bearing 606 ZZ is not high, but the temperature is the opposite. As a result, high-temperature grease should be used when selecting the grease. Usually, we will use Krupp SB-M grease that can withstand high temperatures to 180 ℃. This grease is in the state of solid grease when the 606 ZZ bearing is at rest.

With the operation of the 606 ZZ bearing, the temperature rise of the bearing itself increases. It causes SB-M grease gradually thin. In this situation, the heat generated inside the bearing will reduce that extending the life of the 606 ZZ bearing.

The selection of bearing 6201 2RS greases is similar to the selection of 606 ZZ bearing grease.

Selection of bearing clearance

606 ZZ bearings and 6201 2RS bearings are used in angle grinding gear shafts.

It is necessary to pay attention to the selection of clearance. The gear shaft is the output part of the angle grinder whose front end is directly connected to the grinding disc or cutting disc.

If the clearance of the 606 ZZ bearing and 6201 2RS bearing in this part is too large, it will cause the output shaft and the axial movement to be large, which will lead to the large axial shaking of the grinding wheel.

As a result, the durability of the grinding wheel is reduced. Also, the life of the gears on the gear shaft will shorten. Generally, Yuanhe Transmission adopts the clearance section of 8-15μ in the gear shaft 606 ZZ bearing and 6201 2RS bearing clearance.

Selection of bearing seal form

606 ZZ bearings and 6201 2RS bearings are used in angle grinding gear shafts.

Since one end of 606 ZZ is pressed into the aluminum part of the headshell, there is no possibility of foreign matter entering the other end. In general, we use the seal of the iron cover in the selection of this bearing. The iron cover seal can dissipate heat to a certain extent, dissipating the heat generated inside the bearing chamber by heat conduction.

6201 2RS bearing should pay attention to the sealing form. The outer end of the 6201 2RS bearings is the position of the grinding wheel and the grinding disc. There are a lot of iron filings, dust, and other foreign objects in this position during the angle grinding process.

In order to prevent foreign matter from entering the bearing chamber, we adopt a double-lip seal in the form of a 6201 2RS bearing seal. The lip of the inner ring of the sealing ring and the groove of the inner ring of the bearing should be in close contact.

The bearing selection of the rotor of the angle grinder mainly considers the test brought by the high speed of the bearing. In the selection of angle grinder gearbox bearings, we not only pay attention to the selection of the bearing’s own clearance but also pay attention to the waterproof and dustproof problems of the angle grinder output bearing.
