6809 Deep Groove Ball Bearing 45x58x7mm

The 6809 bearing is the largest bore in the 6800 thin-section series: 45mm shaft, 58mm OD, 7mm width, and a 6.5mm ring cross-section. Three seal configurations share 6.24 kN dynamic and 5.40 kN static capacity from a GCr15 chrome steel platform. For a 45mm shaft, no other standard deep groove ball bearing fits into a 58mm housing envelope.

Key Specifications

  • Sealing: Open, ZZ (SPCC metal shields), and 2RS (NBR contact seals). Open reaches 9,500 RPM. ZZ retains full speed with non-contact shields. 2RS limits to ~7,600 RPM due to contact seal friction.
  • Load: 6.24 kN dynamic (Cr), 5.40 kN static (Cor). A 6009 bearing at the same 45mm bore carries 15.1 kN dynamic but requires a 75mm housing bore.
  • Speed: 9,500 RPM in Open configuration with polyurea grease. The thin ring section keeps ball centrifugal loads manageable at the 45mm bore scale.
  • Temperature: -20C to 120C with standard polyurea grease. Ester-based grease extends to 150C for OEM orders.
  • Material: GCr15 chrome steel rings and balls. 440C stainless steel for corrosion-prone environments. Hybrid ceramic (Si3N4 balls) for electrical insulation.

Sealing and Lubrication

The 6809 Open bearing delivers 9,500 RPM and accepts oil-mist lubrication through the exposed ball path. Specified for gearboxes, oil-bath pumps, and motor end bells where the housing provides the contamination barrier. Open configuration supports in-situ re-greasing for equipment with scheduled maintenance.

The 6809 ZZ bearing uses SPCC steel shields with a non-contact labyrinth gap. Retains full 9,500 RPM with factory-filled polyurea grease. Shields block coarse particles and splashes. Default for enclosed fan motors, belt-driven machinery, and power transmission in clean housings.

The 6809 2RS bearing uses NBR rubber contact seals for positive exclusion of fine dust, moisture, and direct spray. Speed reduces to ~7,600 RPM. Specified for agricultural sprayers, outdoor conveyor rollers, and food-processing lines exposed to washdown.

Performance

At 6.24 kN dynamic load, the 6809 bearing carries a 45mm shaft in a 58mm housing envelope. The 6009 bearing fits the same 45mm shaft but requires a 75mm housing bore; 17mm larger OD, and carries 15.1 kN dynamic. The 6909 bearing splits the difference at 45x68x12mm with 12.7 kN dynamic. If the housing bore is fixed at 58mm, the 6809 bearing is the only standard deep groove option for a 45mm shaft. The 7mm width keeps the axial envelope compact for paired gearbox mounting.

ABEC-3 radial runout of 0.018mm is standard. The 6.5mm ring section is more sensitive to housing out-of-round than standard-section bearings. For 45mm shafts at 9,500 RPM, specify the housing bore to H6 tolerance with circularity within 0.012mm. Shaft shoulder squareness should be within 0.012mm across the bearing seat face.

OEM and Customization

Clearance: C2 for precision spindles and low-noise equipment. C3 (standard). C4 for high-temperature housings where differential expansion closes running clearance

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the 6809 bearing compare to a 6009 bearing? +
Both fit a 45mm shaft. The 6809 bearing measures 45x58x7mm with 6.24 kN dynamic load. The 6009 bearing measures 45x75x16mm with 15.1 kN dynamic. The 6009 bearing has a 17mm larger OD and more than double the width. If the housing bore is fixed at 58mm, the 6809 bearing is the only standard deep groove option for a 45mm shaft. If the housing can accept 75mm and the load requires it, choose the 6009 bearing. Contact us with your envelope constraints.
What is the difference between a 6809 bearing and a 6909 bearing? +
The 6909 bearing measures 45x68x12mm and carries 12.7 kN dynamic; roughly double the 6809 bearing capacity. The 6909 ring cross-section is 11.5mm versus 6.5mm for the 6809 bearing. The 6909 bearing needs a 10mm larger housing bore and 5mm more axial space. Choose the 6809 bearing when 58mm OD and 7mm width are hard constraints. Choose the 6909 bearing when the load exceeds 6.24 kN.
What are the common applications for a 45mm shaft with a 58mm housing constraint? +
The 45mm shaft with 58mm OD envelope appears most often in electric motor end bells where the stator lamination stack OD limits the housing bore. Other cases include hydraulic pump cartridge housings where the pump body wall thickness leaves only 58mm for the bearing seat, belt tensioner pulleys where the pulley hub diameter constrains the bearing OD, and gearbox intermediate shafts where multiple bearing seats share a common housing wall. In all these cases, the 6809 bearing is specified because no other standard bearing series fits the envelope.
Does the 6809 bearing require special handling during installation due to the thin ring section? +
Yes. The 6.5mm ring cross-section is more susceptible to brinelling from installation impact than standard-section bearings. Press the bearing onto the shaft by applying force only to the inner ring face. Press into the housing by applying force only to the outer ring face. Never transfer force through the balls. Use a temperature differential of 80-100C (heat housing, cool shaft) for slip-fit installation. Verify that the bearing rotates freely after installation; a thin ring bearing that feels notchy after mounting usually indicates an out-of-round housing bore.
