Shielding and Lubrication

The 6302 bearing ships in three sealing configurations, each matched to a distinct operating environment. Open bearings reach 18,000 RPM without seal drag and are specified for oil-bath or circulating-oil systems where external lubrication is present and the housing provides contamination control.

ZZ metal-shielded 6302 bearings use non-contact steel shields with a 0.2 mm to 0.4 mm gap between the shield and inner ring land. They run to 16,000 RPM and handle moderate dust environments: electric motors, fans, and enclosed gearboxes. The 13 mm width of the 6302 bearing provides a deeper grease reservoir than the 11 mm-wide 6202-ZZ, extending re-greasing intervals in horizontal-shaft applications.

2RS rubber-sealed 6302 bearings use nitrile contact seals on the inner ring land. At 13,000 RPM, the 2RS 6302 bearing handles agricultural PTO shafts, conveyor head pulleys, and outdoor HVAC condenser fans where water spray and abrasive dust are routine. The contact seal lip adds measurable drag: expect 3 degrees C to 6 degrees C higher steady-state temperature than the equivalent ZZ bearing at the same speed. The 13 mm width holds more grease volume than the 6202-2RS (11 mm), extending sealed-for-life operating hours in moderate-load applications.

Performance

The 6302 bearing delivers 11.4 kN dynamic load capacity (Cr) and 5.45 kN static load capacity (Cor). On the same 15 mm shaft, the 6202 bearing (15x35x11 mm) offers 7.65 kN Cr and 3.75 kN Cor. The 6302 bearing adds 5 mm OD and 2 mm width, accommodating larger-diameter balls and deeper raceway grooves. The result is a 49% increase in dynamic capacity and a 45% increase in static capacity.

Moving up one bore size, the 6303 bearing (17x47x14 mm) gains 18% more dynamic capacity (13.5 kN vs 11.4 kN) at the cost of a 2 mm larger shaft diameter and a 5 mm larger housing bore. This positions the 6302 bearing as the highest-capacity single-row deep groove ball bearing in the 15 mm bore class. For a design running a 6202 bearing near its 7.65 kN fatigue limit, switching to a 6302 bearing extends calculated L10 life by a factor of approximately 3.3 at identical load and speed.

Radial internal clearance is CN as standard. C3 clearance is stocked for electric motor applications where thermal expansion of the inner ring reduces running clearance. At C3 clearance and moderate axial load (less than or equal to 2.3 kN), the contact angle shifts approximately 8 degrees to 12 degrees, sufficient for combined radial-axial loading in pump and gearbox applications.

OEM and Customization

Yuanhe supplies the 6302 bearing with full customization for volume OEM orders. Non-standard radial clearances (C2, C3, C4) are stocked or produced to order. Lubrication options include low-torque synthetic grease for instrument applications, food-grade grease (NSF H1 registered) for processing equipment, and high-temperature polyurea grease rated to 150 degrees C continuous. Stainless steel 440C rings and balls are available for corrosive or washdown environments: note that 440C derates dynamic load capacity by approximately 15% compared to GCr15.

Cage options include stamped steel (standard, to 18,000 RPM), glass-reinforced polyamide (reduced weight, lower noise, to 13,000 RPM), or machined brass (high-speed stability above 16,000 RPM). Standard MOQ is 100 pieces per configuration. Sample orders of 10 to 50 pieces ship within 7 days. Every order includes a dimensional inspection report covering bore, OD, width, radial runout, and radial clearance. ISO 9001:2015 certified. Submit your drawing or specification for a same-day quote.

Applications

Electric motors 3 kW to 7.5 kW, industrial pump shafts and impeller assemblies, HVAC blower wheels and condenser fan motors, conveyor head and tail pulleys, agricultural PTO shafts and tiller spindle assemblies, compact gearbox input and output shafts, power tool armatures and gear trains, textile machinery rollers and tensioners, fitness equipment crank and pulley assemblies, centrifugal fan and blower shafts, compact actuator and linear drive lead screws. Any 15 mm shaft application with radial loads between 7.5 kN and 11.4 kN where the 6202 bearing reaches its operational limit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much more load capacity does a 6302 bearing provide compared to a 6202 bearing on the same 15 mm shaft? +
The 6302 bearing delivers 11.4 kN dynamic load (Cr): a 49% increase over the 6202 bearing at 7.65 kN Cr. Static load rises 45% from 3.75 kN to 5.45 kN. The 6302 bearing achieves this through a 5 mm larger OD (42 mm vs 35 mm) and a 2 mm wider cross-section (13 mm vs 11 mm), which accommodates larger-diameter balls and deeper raceway grooves. The calculated L10 fatigue life improvement is approximately 3.3x at identical load and speed. The trade-off: the housing must accept a 42 mm OD instead of 35 mm, and the bearing is 2 mm wider axially.
What radial clearance grade should a 6302 bearing use in an electric motor with frequent start-stop cycling? +
C3 radial clearance is the standard choice for 6302 bearings in electric motor applications with frequent thermal cycling. Each start-stop cycle heats the inner ring faster than the outer ring, reducing running clearance. C3 clearance (15 to 33 microns radial for 15 mm bore) compensates for this differential expansion, preventing preload buildup that causes torque spikes and premature spalling. CN clearance is suitable for steady-state operation with slow temperature ramp. C2 clearance is available for low-speed instrument applications where minimal radial play is required.
How does the 13 mm width of the 6302 bearing affect relubrication intervals compared to narrower alternatives? +
The 13 mm width of the 6302 bearing provides approximately 18% more internal volume than the 11 mm-wide 6202 bearing. In a 6302-2RS bearing filled with standard polyurea-mineral grease (NLGI 2), this translates to sealed-for-life operation at 13,000 RPM and 70 degrees C for 2,000 to 4,500 hours under moderate radial load (less than or equal to 2.0 kN). At 8,000 RPM and 60 degrees C, the same configuration reaches 8,000 to 12,000 hours. For applications requiring periodic relubrication, specify the ZZ configuration and integrate a grease nipple into the housing design. The deeper grease cavity also reduces the frequency of re-greasing in motor applications where the bearing runs continuously at 1,500 to 3,600 RPM.
Is a 6302-2RS bearing suitable for vertical shaft mounting with the bearing submerged in oil? +
A 6302-2RS bearing with nitrile contact seals is not rated for submerged operation. The contact seal lip is designed to exclude contaminants in air, not to hold back pressurized fluid. For vertical-shaft pump applications where the lower bearing sits in an oil bath, specify the open 6302 bearing and rely on the pump oil circulation system for lubrication. If the bearing must operate partially submerged with intermittent exposure, a 6302-ZZ with non-contact shields allows oil ingress and egress while blocking coarse debris. For full-submersion applications with aggressive media, consider 440C stainless steel rings and balls with fluorocarbon seals: available on request for OEM volumes.
