635 ZZ Miniature Deep Groove Ball Bearing 5x19x6mm

The 635 is the largest-OD bearing in the 5mm-bore deep groove ball bearing series at 19mm. When a 5mm shaft must support radial loads above 2kN, the 635 ZZ bearing is the standard choice. The ZZ suffix means pressed steel shields on both sides. These metal shields are non-contact, adding zero friction drag. Factory-filled with grease and protected against coarse dust and debris for the life of the bearing. At 40,000 RPM, the ZZ configuration outruns rubber-sealed equivalents by roughly 20 percent.

Shielding and Lubrication

The 635 ZZ bearing uses pressed steel shields (SPCC) on both sides. At 19mm OD, the non-contact gap between shield and inner ring is wide enough that the ZZ configuration adds virtually zero friction. The 635 ZZ bearing reaches 40,000 RPM with grease lubrication, roughly 20 percent faster than the rubber-sealed 635 2RS bearing variant. The tradeoff: metal shields deflect coarse dust and debris but cannot seal against liquid spray or fine particle ingress. Factory-filled with lithium-base grease, lubricated for life within the -40 to 120 degrees C service range. For wet or dusty environments, the 635 2RS bearing uses contact rubber seals that block moisture at the cost of approximately 8,000 RPM in maximum speed.

Performance

Within the 5mm-bore deep groove ball bearing series, the 635 bearing is the largest-OD option at 19mm. The 625 bearing (5x16x5mm) saves 3mm on OD but delivers roughly 1.74kN dynamic load, a 26 percent reduction. The 605 bearing (5x14x5mm) drops further to 14mm OD. When a 5mm shaft must support radial loads above 2kN, the 635 ZZ bearing is the standard choice. Chrome steel (GCr15) rings and balls, stamped steel cage. Manufactured to precision bearing standards with ABEC-3 tolerance, upgradeable to ABEC-5 on request.

OEM and Customization

Custom internal clearance (C2, CN, C3) is available for volume orders. C3 clearance is the most common request for 635 ZZ bearings used in electric motors, where press-fit mounting and thermal expansion reduce internal clearance. For sustained speeds above 30,000 RPM, a glass-fibre reinforced polyamide (PA66-GF25) cage can replace the standard steel cage, reducing rotating mass and operating noise. 440C stainless steel rings and balls are available for food-processing and marine environments. FAQ

How does the 635 ZZ bearing compare to the 625 ZZ bearing? +
The 635 ZZ bearing (5x19x6mm) has a 3mm larger OD and 1mm greater width than the 625 ZZ bearing (5x16x5mm). This thicker cross-section gives the 635 bearing approximately 2.34kN dynamic load capacity versus 1.74kN for the 625 bearing, a 34 percent increase. Both fit a 5mm shaft. Choose the 635 ZZ bearing when higher radial loads or better shock resistance is needed and 19mm OD fits the housing. Choose the 625 ZZ bearing when the housing bore is limited to 16mm.
Can the 635 ZZ bearing be used in an electric motor? +
Yes. The 5mm bore matches many small AC and DC motor shaft diameters. The ZZ metal shields protect against carbon brush dust and general debris without adding friction drag. At 40,000 RPM with grease, the 635 ZZ bearing covers the speed range of most fractional-horsepower motors. For motors operating in wet or washdown environments, consider the 635 2RS bearing. C3 internal clearance is recommended for motor applications with press-fit mounting.
What cage options are available for the 635 ZZ bearing? +
Standard 635 ZZ bearings use a stamped steel cage. For sustained operation above 30,000 RPM, a glass-fibre reinforced polyamide (PA66-GF25) cage can be specified. The polyamide cage is lighter, reducing ball-to-cage impact forces at high speed and cutting operating noise by several decibels. Its temperature limit is 120 degrees C versus 150 degrees C for steel. For applications above 120 degrees C or requiring chemical resistance, a brass machined cage is available on custom order.
What radial clearance should I specify for a 635 ZZ bearing? +
Standard 635 ZZ bearings ship with CN (normal) radial clearance, typically 5 to 20 microns for the 5mm bore. For electric motor applications with press-fit mounting on both shaft and housing, C3 clearance compensates for the interference-fit reduction in internal clearance. For encoder or instrument applications requiring minimal radial play, C2 clearance is available. Indicate the mounting fit and operating temperature when requesting a non-standard clearance so Yuanhe can confirm compatibility.
